A Virtual Tour of the OAS Community Exhibit
The Roots of the OAS

The Ontario Archaeological Society was founded in 1950 by an enthusiastic group whose interest in "buried history" had been sparked by the exciting lectures of John Norman Emerson, a professor of Anthropology at the University of Toronto.

Today’s OAS is a dynamic mix of people with a very broad range of interests from professional and academic archaeologists to students and others who share a deep respect for Ontario’s past and the conviction that the material evidence of those past life ways deserves to be preserved and protected so that future generations may appreciate and learn from them.
